The Red Wolves opened up play in CHI Memorial Stadium in East Ridge Friday afternoon in style, downing FC Tucson, 1-0.
Greg Hurst scored the match’s only goal before a crowd of about 750 fans, which was limited for social distancing purposes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hurst scored in the 53rd minute, and Red Wolves keeper Alex Mangels saved a FC Tuscon PK in the second half. The goal was Hurst’s third of the season.
The win over Tucson FC marks the Red Wolves’ first in two seasons. Last year the Wolves were 0-2-1 versus Tucson.
The Red Wolves earned a 2-2 tie last week on the road at South Georgia Tormenta FC. The team will travel to North Texas SC next Saturday.
