East Ridge used two early touchdowns and some late-game defense to post a 14-8 win over Soddy-Daisy, Friday night in a Region 3-4A high school football game.
The win improved the Pioneers record to 3-5 overall, and 2-2 in region play.
Jermaine Blackstock hit Tyreke Wise-Bridges on a 50-yard pass, setting up a 3-yard touchdown run by Blackstock. Blackstock scored on a 4-yard run in the second quarter, accounting for the Pioneer offense.
Soddy-Daisy scored just before halftime on a short rush by Tucker Ross. Gage Welch added the two-point conversion.
East Ridge allowed a paltry three second-half first downs by Soddy-Daisy. It stopped the Trojans on fourth down from midfield late in the fourth quarter.
The Pioneers forced two turnovers, including an interception by Wise-Bridges with a minute left in the contest.
The Pioneers have a bye week next Friday, before traveling to Sequoyah in a region game.
