Spring Football Scrimmage

The East Ridge High School football team is having its spring scrimmage on Friday, May 3. But, Coach Tim James has provided a little extra incentive for fans and alumni to come out and support the Pioneers.

James said the East Ridge Alumni and Supporters Association is helping out with a tailgate prior to the 6:30 p.m. scrimmage. Then after a couple quarters of the team scrimmage, alumni of the football team will take the field in a flag football game.

” So, all you has been’s come on out and see if ya still got it,” James said.

Of course, liability waivers must be signed prior to participating in the alumni flag football game. Waivers are not required for tailgating, however.

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. Dick worked for the Chattanooga Free-Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press for 22 years. Free-Press Sports Editor Roy Exum plucked him out of production in 1989 and gave him a job as a sports reporter.
