According to the National Weather Service in Chattanooga, our area could see snow over the next few days.
A cold front will bring widespread rain to the area beginning Thursday afternoon. On Thursday evening, the rain will transition to snow, with accumulating snowfall expected in parts of the area.
Moderate accumulations of one to three inches are possible across the East Tennessee Mountains and higher elevations of Southwest Virginia.
Light snowfall accumulations of less than one inch are possible across the Cumberland Plateau and northern Tennessee Valley, including the Tri-Cities area.
Over the weekend, a storm system will move from the Gulf Coast States into the southern Appalachians. This system will produce widespread precipitation across the area from Saturday night through Sunday night. There is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the track of this system and the amount of cold air associated with it to produce snow. However, snow accumulations are possible, especially across the higher elevations and in Southwest Virginia.
