On Thursday, Austin Garrett announced receiving the endorsement of Sheriff Steve Ross in Polk County.
In the letter to Chief Deputy Garrett, Sheriff Ross stated, “I think the citizens of Hamilton County would do very well by electing Chief Austin Garrett as their next Sheriff!”
Sheriff Steve Ross was elected Sheriff in 2014 after beginning his career in law enforcement as a deputy in Polk County in 1988. In 1990, Sheriff Ross joined the Cleveland Police Department holding the rank of detective when he retired. Polk County boarders Hamilton County to the southeast and is named in honor of Governor and President James K. Polk.
Sheriff Ross also wrote, “Over the past few years I have come to know Chief Austin Garrett professionally and personally. Every time I have called on him for assistance, he has always been very professional and knowledgeable with assistance. In a personal way Chief Garrett has been very friendly with a great attitude and presents himself and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in a good light.”
