The Red Wolves advanced to the finals of the USL League One playoffs with a 1-0 win over the top-seeded Richmond Kickers, Saturday night on the road.

The Red Wolves will now face South Georgia Tormenta FC next Saturday in Statesboro, Ga. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tormenta won two of three regular-season games against the R’Wolves.

For the second week in a row, forward Rafael Mentzingen provided late heroics, scoring the game’s only goal in the 85th minute.

The No. 4 seeded Red Wolves claimed its biggest win in the history of the franchise despite David Texeira receiving a red cared in the 39th minute of the contest. 

The Red Wolves’ defense bowed its collective back with five blocked shots, 23 tackles and 22 clearances. Keeper Carlos Avilez had four saves.
