The Team Now Looks to Secure Hosting the 2021 Final at CHI Memorial Stadium
No strangers to creating history this season, the Chattanooga Red Wolves have officially clinched their spot for the 2021 USL League One Playoffs for the first time since the club’s inauguration.
The Red Wolves punched their ticket into the postseason on Tuesday evening following New England Revolution II’s 1-0 win against Forward Madison. Entering the final stretch of the regular season, Red Wolves must remain in the top two spots to earn a first round bye and home field advantage in the USL League One Semi Finals. The top spot would secure home field advantage in the 2021 Final.
“At the beginning of the season our first goal was to qualify for the playoffs,” says Head Coach Jimmy Obleda. “Today, it was official. The boys did it, I’m so proud of this group of guys! The work is not done. Vamos y vamos por más!”
Currently sitting in second place with 43 points and three games left to play, Red Wolves have surpassed their 2019 end-of-season record of 40 points; also setting new club records for wins (11), goal difference (10), and road victories (4). An impressive 15-game undefeated run this season is much to credit to the success of the club. Having won all but one game at home and three on the road, Red Wolves’ current 11-4-10 record has surpassed their 2019 record of 10-8-10.
“Assuring ourselves of a playoff appearance is an incredible accomplishment and something to be very proud of. This is just the beginning,” says GM & President Sean McDaniel. “Our goal remains to bring a national title to Chattanooga and solidifying a playoff spot is only the first step towards a League One trophy.”
Ticket packages for the postseason will be on sale later this month, with more details to be announced soon. The Red Wolves return to action and continue the push to secure the top seed in USL League One on Saturday, Oct. 16th vs. Toronto FC II at CHI Memorial Stadium.
