As a resident of East Ridge for about 13 years, I’ve ridden the roller coaster of expectations regarding our city’s future (on many fronts).
We lived at the west end for about six years, then moved to the east end, near the Georgia line. We owned ChattaMusic for several years, right in the heart of East Ridge. I sadly watched as businesses around ours closed their doors, then we moved to downtown Chattanooga in an effort to survive. (In retrospect, our music store’s demise was caused by our inability to compete with online buying).
That said, I’ve watched an amazing transformation take place, largely since the Bass Pro Shop opened. Fast-food chains have been leveled and rebuilt brand new buildings, as have other businesses near Exit 1.
From my perspective as a realtor, I began to see new life spring up in East Ridge in the housing market. There are homes that have been “flipped” by entrepreneurial investors, and this practice continues. Home owners who’ve lived here for many years – many of whom reared their families here – are reinvesting in their own homes, having decided to remodel, update, and STAY in East Ridge.
In short, as a realtor, I’m encouraged, and I’m showing East Ridge homes to more and more clients! In subsequent submissions to this Website, I’ll site specific financing incentives that are available AND very real numbers to show why I think East Ridge is “coming back” as a viable place to live!
