With the help of a grand slam, Myles Pruitt drove in six runs, as Catholic Baseball edged Soddy-Daisy, 8-7, Wednesday in middle school baseball.
The slam to left field came in the second inning. The big knock didn’t knock the air out of Soddy-Daisy, as the Twins roared back, tying the game in the bottom of the third inning.
Soddy-Daisy took a 6-4 lead in the fifth helped by a Catholic error.
Catholic jumped into the lead in the top of the sixth when Holder Donnelly drew a walk, scoring a run; an error scored two more; and Noah Winland drew a walk, scoring another.
Pruitt, Catholic’s starting pitcher, allowed two hits and six runs over four and a third innings. He fanned two and walked six. Caleb Grass came on in relief.
The win puts Catholic’s overall record at 7-6 on the year. Catholic will travel to Brown Middle today in an attempt to continue its win streak. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
