East Ridge police apprehended a man and a woman, Monday afternoon, after a resident called police saying that his car was being stolen.
Nathan Wilson, 33, of a Gibbons Road address in Chattanooga, was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on charges of Theft of Property over $10,000, Aggravated Burglary and Burglary of an Automobile. Wilson is due in municipal court on Feb. 27 to answer those charges.
Wilson’s alleged accomplice, Lisa McKeel, was taken to Parkridge East Hospital, apparently suffering from an overdose, officials said. She has yet be charged in relation to this incident. However, officials said McKeel has two active warrants out of Hamilton County General Sessions Court. Her medical conditions is not known.
According to an affidavit of complaint, police were called to the 4200 block of Bennett Road just before 1 p.m. in reference to an attempted vehicle theft. When officers arrived they spoke with a man who said that a man accompanied by a woman tried to steal his 1997 Toyota 4-Runner and fled into a wooded area when the victim confronted them. According to the car owner, he told Wilson that the car was his and Wilson responded that “it was their’s now.”
Officers ventured into the wooded area in the Pioneer Ridge Trail and Lazard Street area looking for the suspects. An officer spotted the male suspect at 4106 Lazard Street and he was taken into custody. The suspect was identified as Wilson. He was taken to Parkridge East for medical attention, the report states.
The female suspect was found in the wooded area and taken into custody. She was identified as McKeel. Officials said that McKeel may have been suffering from a drug overdose and was taken to hospital for medical attention.
The report states, that the Toyota owner told police that there was stolen property inside his 4-Runner. The stolen property, according to the report, belonged to the vehicle owner’s next door neighbor. Police spoke with the neighbor who identified the stolen property which included a Samsung television, a computer, a Sony PlayStation 3 and several garbage bags full of clothes. In addition, Wilson had on his person three watches and six rings allegedly taken from the neighbor’s house valued at more than $13,000. Also reported stolen was $200 cash and the keys to a Lexus. The keys, the report states, were in McKeel’s hand when she was taken into custody.
The report states that warrants will be sought against McKeel for Aggravated Burglary, Burglary of an Auto and Theft over $10,000.
