_ 4300 block Ringgold Rd.: Police stopped a car in the early morning hours of Oct. 10 for having a non-functioning license plate lamp. According to a police report, the officer spoke with the driver of the GMC Jimmy, Shainna Freeman, who was unable to produce a drivers license, saying her’s was revoked. While writing a traffic citation the officer noted that Freeman was “extremely nervous.” The report states that the officer asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle. Freeman said there was not and gave permission to search the vehicle.
According to the report, while one officer continued writing the citation, a second officer conducted a search of the vehicle. Police immediately located a 9 mm handgun in the top of a bag in the back floorboard. An officer found a small bag of methamphetamine in Freeman’s purse. All three occupants of the vehicle were detained at that point.
The report states that in addition to the handgun, police found several batteries taped together, a number of small electronic pieces with wires removed, two packs of camping style handwarmers, four syringes, a large bottle of water and a set of digital scales. According to the report, these are items which can be used to manufacture methamphetamine.
According to the report, none of the occupants of the vehicle admitted to owning the bag. All three told police that the bag belonged to someone who had previously been in the vehicle.
Freeman, 35, of a 6th Avenue address in Chattanooga, was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule II, Manufacture,
Delivery, Sale of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Firearm While in Commission of a Felony.
One of the passengers, Pollyanna Hendricks, 35, of a Maryjo Drive address in Chattanooga, was booked on the same charges. According to booking reports from the jail, the third person was not charged with a crime.
_ 1511 Waterhouse St.: Police were called to the address early in the morning of Oct. 11 in reference to a burglary of an auto. According to a police report, an officer spoke with a man who said that sometime in the overnight hours, someone had entered his Mercury Milan when it was parked in the driveway. The victim told police that he found the front driver’s side door ajar and the contents of the glove compartment strewn inside the vehicle. An unknown amount of change appeared to have been taken from the car. The victim could not be sure if anything else was taken during the incident. There are no suspects at this time.
_ 1415 Choate Rd.: Police were called to the address just after midnight on Oct. 12 in regard to an auto burglary. According to a police report, an officer spoke with a man who said he went to move his Chevy Blazer to attach a trailer and noticed that someone had been inside the vehicle. The victim said the center console along with the glove compartment were open. In addition, the victim showed police the “trunk” with items tossed all about. The victim told police that he didn’t think anything was removed from the vehicle.
According to the report, the victim told police that his wife saw a young Hispanic male across the street at a neighbor’s house going through their vehicle and take off running toward Ringgold Road when the neighbors came out and confronted the man at about 9 p.m. that evening. The report states that it is unclear if the same man may have entered the Chevy Blazer. The victim told police that the Blazer was unlocked at the time of the incident.
