The following information was compiled from ERPD “pass along” reports.
January 23– Day Shift
1410 Mack Smith Road Room 3106 (DOA):
A man was found unresponsive in his bed by a relative. Police began CPR, but the man was pronounced deceased upon arrival by EMS. A death certificate was signed, and he was transported to Legacy Funeral Home.
1309 Darlene Circle (auto burglary):
The resident reported the theft of a pair of gloves from her vehicle. Per security footage two white males were recorded breaking into the vehicle at 0200 hours on January 22nd.
5407 Ringgold Road (multiple auto burglaries):
Six customer vehicles were entered overnight on the lot of Maxi Muffler.

January 23 – Night Shift
Ringgold Rd / Scruggs Rd (Back Other Agency):
East Ridge Police assisted the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department during the search for a suspect on foot. The Catoosa County Dispatch stated that a deputy was in an altercation with Jon Pippins near Scruggs Rd. and Cloud Springs Rd. Pippin then took off on foot toward the Costco area. ERPD searched for the suspect on the Scruggs Rd and Ringgold Rd area in the East Ridge City limits. Pippin is described as a 6’6” white male with red hair and tattoos on his face. Pippin had not been located as of 0430 on 01-23-20. Pippin will have verified warrants through Walker and Catoosa Counties.
I24 EB, MM 184 (Back Other Agency):
East Ridge Police assisted Chattanooga PD in locating an injury crash on I24.
4405 Ringgold Rd (Advance Auto Parts/theft):
Two black males walked out of the store with $251 in Valvoline oil. Suspects left in a white Grand Marquis.
173 Cecil Lane (Drug Overdose):
Police responded to this address for a report of an unconscious party. Officers located a female subject unconscious on the floor of the bedroom. Police began CPR. EMS administered Narcan. She was revived and transported to Parkridge East.
5300 Marion Avenue (Traffic Stop/Check Well Being):
A call was pending to check the well being, on an elderly male that had just left Dollar General. Dispatch advised the caller stated he appeared to have dementia. Police located the vehicle turning onto McBrien Road. Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver stayed at a slow roll, crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic, and then turned right driving into a yard. The driverappeared to be very confused. Dispatch advised that his girlfriend had been in contact with Cleveland PD regarding her not being able to find him. EMS arrived on scene and transported him to Parkridge East.

January 24 – Day Shift
5526 Clemons Road- Warrant Service-
Daniella Garcia was arrested on an East Ridge City Warrant (Capias- Driving while suspended) and transported to 601.
5336 Rose Street- Warrant Service-
Officers executed arrest warrants on Juan Sanchez. Sanchez was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail on warrants for Failure to Render Aid, Filing a False Reports, and Accident with Serious Injury.
1600 blk of Prigmore Road- Disorder-
The caller advised of a male and female in the roadway fighting and yelling at cars. Upon arrival police located the two walking on the roadside. Upon speaking with them they advised they had not been fighting and had yelled at a car that had almost struck them.
3715 Ringgold Road (Food City)- Theft-
The complainant believes her iPhone 10 was taken while she was shopping at Food City yesterday between 1300 hours and 1350 hours in the floral section. She discovered it missing around 1405 hours after she had returned home. She advised the phone was in her purse in the shopping cart, sitting on top with the zipper open. She contacted Apple who advised her the application program for locating her phone was turned off. Police spoke with Food City management who reviewed security footage during that time frame, but the camera angle only permits a limited view of the area.

January 24– Night Shift
4214 Ringgold Road / Disorder:
Shemika Woodgett chased her children’s father in her vehicle until he pulled into the parking lot of the police department. She stated she did so because she was convinced that he had her food stamp card until it was located in her vehicle by police during a search. She was issued a misdemeanor citation for driving on revoked.
370 Camp Jordan Rd Apt#B / Harassment:
Police were called to this location regarding harassment. Upon arrival it was discovered that the complainant was receiving death threats via text message from her ex-boyfriend. Warrants are being sought. for harassment on the ex-boyfriend. He lives in Rossville, Ga and is known to drive a white Honda Civic.
3725 Fountain Avenue / Burglary:
Two black males kicked in the door to apartment 19 after the victim left. A witness saw the two men leave the apartment. One BM wearing grey toboggin and black hoodie was carrying a grey Sentry Safe containing $2,000 that belonged to the victim. The second BM wore a black hoodie with a red jacket over top, and was carrying a black assault type rifle. CID was notified. No evidence to process at the scene, police took photos of the scene included with the report. No further description available.
4340 Ringgold Rd / Assault:
Police responded to a disorder at the Pizza Hut involving an employee and a customer. It was determined the customer had assaulted the employee over receiving the wrong toppings on his pizza. Police located the customer at 5337 Ringgold Road and identified him as Jason Cothran. Cothran was taken into custody and charged with assault and public intoxication. While searching Cothran’s bag, police found a vehicle registration and an installation receipt for car stereo equipment. When police contacted Cothran he was carrying an amplifier bearing the same serial number as the one listed in the receipt. Police made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle and determined his truck had recently been broken into and his amplifier had been taken. Police additionally charged Cothran with theft and possession of burglary tools. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is taking charges for auto burglary since the incident occurred outside of East Ridge.
Westside Dr. / AOA:
While transporting a prisoner to the Hamilton County Jail, police observed a black male wearing a white hoodie and blue jeans in the road in front of Sugar’s Ribs. When the male observed police he began running west across the street and into the woods. The male party matched the description of a driver who had led Chattanooga on a pursuit which ended in that area and then fled on foot. Since police were transporting a prisoner, they did not attempt detention but passed the information to CPD. Dash camera footage of the male running was forwarded to CPD.
3200 Navajo / AOA:
Chattanooga PD responded to a shooting (which occurred on a parallel street in Chattanooga) The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot. East Ridge Police aided Chattanooga Police in searching the area. The suspect was not located.
4214 Ringgold Rd / Found Juvenile:
Police were approached by a male juvenile while located at the police department who stated he needed help finding his home. After speaking with the juvenile, police were able to locate his parents. While speaking to the juvenile he advised he was with his cousin who dropped him off in the 900 block of S. Seminole Rd. and advised he had to “handle some business.” The juvenile stated his cousin was a Blood gang member and always carried a gun. He further stated over the last week, he and his cousin had been involved in several shootings in the area. Information was forwarded to the Chattanooga Police units on scene of the shooting which took place during this time frame a few miles away.
5346 Ringgold Rd #2 / Disorder:
A juvenile male was arrested at Kimberly Apartments for aggravated assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, and interference with emergency phone calls.

January 25 – Day Shift
Warrant Service-
Ellen Combs was served East Ridge warrant number 124438 at 601.
1400 Wright Street- Traffic Stop/AOA Warrant Service-
Bridget Sims was detained and transported on Hamilton County warrants for driving on revoked and light law.
1542 Burnes Avenue- Fight-
Upon arrival officers detained a male subject. It was quickly determined he was suffering from a mental distress. He was transported to Parkridge East for an evaluation. Upon arrival at the hospital he was immediately given a CON.
1100 Spring Creek Road (Spring Creek Elementary)- Child Abuse-
TC Thompsons called to report one of their patients advised they had been assaulted by a teacher while at school. Upon arrival police spoke to parent of the victim. CID was contacted and a CPS report was filed.
4031 Wonder Drive-
Police were initially advised of a burglary in progress at this address. Dispatch advised and anonymous caller advised of several people attempting to enter the residence. Officers responded and contacted the parties at the front door of the house. Officers found they were moving in not burglarizing the house.
1515 Tombras Avenue (Community Center)- Disorder-
Staff called police due to an unruly coach causing a disorder and refusing to leave. Upon arrival police spoke with the coach. He was advised to leave.

January 25 – Night Shift
1504 Keeble Street / Assault:
The victim was assaulted while traveling in an Orange Chevy Tahoe with graphics on the sides. The suspect dropped the victim at his neighbor’s residence who helped him to his home at this address. The victim was inebriated and uncooperative with police. He refused to identify the suspect and was too intoxicated to press charges.
300 Block Camp Jordan Parkway / Arrest:
At this location Lakeca Carnes was arrested for driving while suspended and three Hamilton County warrants following a traffic stop.

January 26 – Day Shift
3620 Wimberly Lane- Alarm-
Police responded to this address two times today on accidental alarm activations.
13 Belvoir Circle- Vehicle Burglary-
The caller advised sometime overnight an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and took her wallet.
Later in the shift police were dispatched to 705 Belvoir Avenue on a found property call. Upon arrival the reporting party advised he had found a set of car keys in his yard. Police found the keys belonging to the victim at 13 Belvoir Circle. They were returned to her.
549 Benson Drive- Residential Fire-
The caller advised he awoke to find his residence full of smoke. Fire and police responded. Upon arrival food was found burning on the stove.
5902 Ringgold Road (Public Storage)- Burglary-
Upon arrival police spoke to the victim. She advised she arrived at the Public Storage this morning to find her storage unit had been entered. She stated she doesn’t believe anything was taken as a result of the entry. Police also spoke with the property manager. She advised she had reviewed video from January 25, 2020 and may have suspect information. The property manager stated a second unit had been entered and a third unit was tampered with and the lock removed. The parties who rent those units did not wish to report the incident. The manager stated a suspicious party had entered the office on January 25, 2020 at approximately 1633 hours. She took note of the party who she stated was acting strange and asking about locks. Police reviewed video surveillance from January 25, 2020. A red Chevrolet Avalanche can be seen entering the property at approximately 1620 hours. The vehicle is pulling a white trailer. The truck makes its way to the back of the property and the suspect exits the vehicle. The suspect can be seen making entry into one of the storage units. At approximately 1633 hours the suspect makes his way to the office where the encounter with the manager occurs. He exits the office and returns to the area near his vehicle and enters the storage unit rented by the victim. At approximately 1658 hours the suspect vehicle leaves the complex and travels west on Ringgold Rd. Officers were able to identify the suspect as Steven Nave after reviewing video surveillance. Police have had multiple encounters with Nave at 1702 Prigmore Road. Nave is known to drive a red Chevrolet Avalanche and frequent the East Ridge area. Nave currently has active warrants through Walker County Georgia and most recently East Ridge.
Warrant Service-
Robert Demonte Smith was served two East Ridge warrants for aggravated burglary (#138194) and theft (#138193) at 601.

January 26 – Night Shift
6700 Ringgold Road / Fight :
Police were flagged down about an active fight in the front parking-lot of the Quality Inn. Upon police arrival it was discovered that this was a road rage event and subsequently Robert Shelby was arrested for two counts of assault, public intoxication, and vandalism.
6704 Ringgold Road / Runaway Juveniles:
While at McDonalds, police noticed two juveniles without a parent. After talking with the juveniles it was discovered they ran away from Rossville, Ga and were going to North Carolina. Catoosa County Deputies notified the juveniles’ parents who responded to pick them up.
