The following information was compiled from East Ridge Police Department “pass along” reports.
August 20 Day Shift
3620 Fountain Avenue (Sweet Bay Apartments):
Suspicious Person- Upon arrival police located a black male sitting in a silver Honda Accord playing loud music and smoking marijuana. Police contacted the male, James Arthur Nelson and observed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. Officers also noticed a small bag containing approx. 18. 9 grams of marijuana sitting on the passenger seat in plain view. He was also in possession of a handgun. Nelson was placed into custody for possession of a Schedule VI drug and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The firearm and marijuana were entered in property and evidence. Mr. Nelson was transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
5712 Ringgold Road (Groome Transportation):
Disorder- Upon arrival officers spoke with employees who advised a woman had snuck on their transport van from Atlanta. Upon speaking with the woman, it was found she was in psychiatric crisis. She was unable to advise on her address, day of the week, or her roommates name. The woman did advise that she went to Walmart last night and thought she had got on the bus to go home. She was transported to Parkridge East due to her mental state. Officers were able to locate a possible address in Atlanta. Officers were able to contact a friend who advised she would be on her way to retrieve the woman from the hospital.
3632 Glen Oaks Drive:
Theft- Upon arrival police spoke with the complainant. The complainant advised she has power of attorney for her mother who is elderly and bedridden, living in the home with her. She advised she feels caregivers from ELECT Homecare have been stealing medications from the family. She advised there have been several caregivers in and out of the residence. She advised they are missing several hundred pills.
6728 Ringgold Road (Camping World):
Hold Up Alarm- Police responded and found the alarm to be accidental.
6710 Ringgold Road (Best Western)- AOA/Vehicle Recovery:
CPD requested officers check the lot of the motel for a white Chevy Cruz Stolen from their city. The vehicle was located unoccupied and removed from NCIC.
Missionaire Avenue @ Close Road- Traffic Stop/Evading:
Police attempted a traffic stop on a white Nissan (TN temp tag D647668). The suspect vehicle refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed turning south onto Straub Street and into Georgia. Officers had already driven past the vehicle and observed a white female with brown hair sitting in the driver seat. Due to prior contact, officers were able to identify Amber Taylor as the driver of the fleeing vehicle. Taylor is known to have suspended license in Tennessee. Warrants are being sought.
6 Brockhaven Road:
Found Item- The caller advised he may have found a human bone in his crawl space. Police responded and found the bone to belong to an animal.
1804 McBrien Road- Disorder:
Upon police arrival, contact was made with the complainant. He advised around 0300 hours he noticed a woman sleeping in the backseat of one of his vehicles. The complainant stated that he told the woman to leave his property. The complainant advised around 0820 hours the woman came around the corner of his house and started calling him names. Police attempted to locate the woman but she had already left the area.

Night Shift
5319 Ringgold Road / Traffic Stop:
Shametra McKinney, Makayla Dillard, and Stephen Wright Jr were all arrested for simple possession of marijuana following a traffic stop.
1536 Rugby Place / Disorder:
The complainant called police because her grandson was “on drugs and destroying his room.” Officers arrived on scene and found him to be under the influence of some type of drug. He stated that he had taken his regular methadone that morning but had gone to a yacht party last night and thinks he might have been slipped an unknown drug. EMS responded and transported him to Parkridge East ER.
4150 Monroe St. / Suspicious Activity:
Police received a call about a male and female who had a child without a car seat. Police made contact with the couple in the Walmart parking lot who did not have a car seat. Arrangements were made and a car seat was obtained before leaving the parking lot.
1517 Tombras Avenue / Disorder:
Police were called to the parking lot of the courthouse where it was reported a white female wearing a blue dress was causing a disturbance with citizens who would not give her a ride. Police checked the area and did not locate the female.
6514 Ringgold Road / Theft:
Officers respond to 6514 Ringgold Road at the Mapco on a theft complaint. A male party pulled out money as if he was going to pay for his beer, but the clerk stated that he grabbed the beer and departed the store without paying for it. The clerk stated that his direction of travel was on foot walking towards the Waverly Motel located behind Mapco.
6514 Ringgold Road/ Suspicious Activity:
Police responded to 6514 Ringgold Road at the Mapco on a theft complaint. While investigating the theft complaint, officers were told that three women were standing with a group of people who may have been with the suspect of the theft. Mapco clerk did not wish to trespass the women at this time. Police instructed them to leave the premises after conducting field interviews.
