The employee stated a customer’s Tracker Marine boat, Mercury Marine engine and Tracker Marine trailer were stolen from the back lot of the business. The owner had brought the items to the Bass Pro Shop store in early July for service after the boat engine was damaged. The store was waiting on back ordered parts to repair it. The employee further stated the owner of the stolen property was aware of the situation. The employee showed me the original location of the boat. Near it was a yellow, damaged hitch lock. The anchor bar on the hitch lock had been cut and placed approximately 10 feet behind the parking space in a grassy area. After viewing the lock police were notified the store’s loss prevention team had reviewed the store’s security video and determined the theft occurred on August 8, 2021 between 05:50 and 06:04. Police viewed the store’s security footage and observed a white Chevrolet work van enter the store’s back parking lot from Camp Jordan Parkway at approximately 05:51 on August 8th. The van then pulled up to several boats that were parked in the area. A white male exited the van, walked around the area, opened the back door of the van, moved several items in the van, then got back into the passenger seat. The van then drove through the parking lot but returned to the incident site within approximately two minutes. The driver then exited the vehicle with a motorized hand tool and cut the hitch lock off the boat trailer. The male suspect then hooked the boat trailer to his van and drove away. The van had splotched, white paint in several areas that may have covered a former business name or advertisement. The boat, engine, and trailer were entered into NCIC.
