_ 201 Eads St.: Police were dispatched to the address Monday to investigate a possible intoxicated driver. According to a police report, when officers arrived they made contact with the driver of the car, Richard Jones Jr. While speaking with Jones, an officer noticed that the driver had something in his right hand and was keeping it concealed. Jones refused to show the officer what was in his hand, and another officer on the other side of the car noticed a knife on Jones’ belt.
The report states that at this point Jones threw a baggy containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana into the passenger seat floorboard. Jones was asked to exit the car and taken into custody. When officers retrieved the baggy, they also discovered another bag between the seats containing marijuana. The report states that police also found a purple pill container which had 13.5 white pills that was identified as Oxycodone and two white pills identified as Alprazolam. The report states that it was later determined that Jones had a warrant out of East Ridge fro driving on a revoked license.
Jones, 39, of a Hawk Street address in Cleveland, was charged with Possession of Schedule II Drugs, Possession of Schedule IV Drugs, Possession of Schedule VI Drugs and Driving on a Revoked License. He is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on March 14.
_ 6510 Ringgold Rd.: Police were on routine patrol at the 4As Inn at this address on Saturday morning when an officer saw a white Ford Taurus backed into a spot in front of Room 165. There was a white male sitting in the driver’s seat. According to a police report, when the officer circled the building, the man was no longer in the car. The officer ran the tag for the Taurus and it came back to a Dodge.
The report states that an officer knocked on the door of Room 165 and a woman opened the door and said that her boyfriend was in the shower. When a man came out of the bathroom, he identified himself as Jackie L. Oliver, providing a date of birth and a social security number. The man also told the officer that he was on federal probation for a firearm conviction. The man told police that the car belonged to a friend of his that lived in Whitwell.
The report states that as police were attempting to verify information on the vehicle, the man turned and ran. The man jumped a fence and ran in between several homes before being taken into custody.
After being detained, the man told police that he ran because he didn’t want to go back to jail, and he further stated that he had violated his federal probation. The man was identified as Jackie Lee Alder, 25, of a Francis Springs Road address in Whitwell. The report states that it was also confirmed that Alder had an extradition warrant from the U.S. Marshall’s Service for a firearm charge.
Police requested permission to search Room 165 where Alder was staying and it was granted. The report states that police found four bags containing suspected methamphetamine The total approximate weight of the methamphetamine was determined to be 18.9 grams. Police also found an agent used to “cut” or dilute the meth and $307 in cash.
Alder was charged with Criminal Impersonation, Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale and Evading Arrest. He is due t appear in municipal court on March 21.
