_ 1230 Greenslake Rd.: Police were dispatched to A & B Food Warehouse Monday morning on a reported burglary. According to a police report, police spoke with an employee who said the rear door to the business had been forced open. The owner of the business arrived and told officers that a filing cabinet had been pried open and a metal box was taken from inside the cabinet. The report states that the inside the box was a debit card, a credit card, $40 in cash and checks from several businesses totaling almost $600. Police were told that a cleaner was at the business on the previous day. The report states that investigators spoke with the cleaner who told them that he left the building at 6 p.m. the previous day and all was secured. Detective Beck of the Criminal Investigation Division processed the scene for possible evidence. Further investigation is pending.
_ 5313 Roosevelt Rd.: Police were dispatched to the address on Tuesday morning in regard to an auto theft. According to a police report, police spoke with the victim who told them tat her 2013 Ford Taurus was stolen from her driveway. The last time she saw the vehicle was the previous evening at about 11:30 p.m. When the victim stepped out of her apartment on Tuesday morning it was nowhere to be found. According to the report, the victim told police that she kept a spare key hidden inside the vehicle. The vehicle, the victim said, should have been locked and alarmed. The vehicle was entered into a law enforcement data base as “stolen.” There is no suspect information at this time.
_ 1508 Rugby Place: Police responded to the address, Tuesday on a fire. According to a police report, the homeowner told officers that she had taken two old couches to the street for collection by the city’s sanitation department on Monday. The victim said she was watching television just after 10 p.m. when she looked outside and saw that both of the couches were ablaze. The report states that East Ridge Fire Department responded at put out the fire. It is unknown what started the fire, the report states. No other damage was reported.
_ Law enforcement officials want to remind all East Ridge residents to lock their vehicles when they are parked in residents’ driveways. Over the last several days numerous thefts from vehicles have been reported all across East Ridge. In most instances, the victims of the the thefts told police that their vehicles were not locked.
