_ 3303 Gleason Dr.: Police were called to the address on Saturday afternoon on a disorder. When officers arrived they spoke to a woman at a neighbor’s house who said that she had been in an argument with a man who was at her residence. According to a police report, officers saw a man at the address get in a silver sedan and drive away. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the car occupied by Eric Demon Stepp. Officers asked Stepp, who had a busted lip, what had happened. The report states that Stepp was “very vague.”
Police then spoke with the victim who said that Stepp showed up drunk at her house. She said they got into an argument that proceeded outside to the carport. The victim told police that Stepp struck her in the face and head several times with his fist. The report states that the victim admitted grabbing a silver cup that was in her vehicle inside the carport and struck Stepp in the face in self defense.
The victim told police that she got her daughter and went across the street to the neighbor’s house. According to the victim, Stepp then picked up rocks and started throwing them at her car inside the carport. He then picked up a large concrete stepping stone and began to hit the vehicle with the object.
The report states that officers spoke with neighbors who backed up the woman’s story about Stepp damaging her vehicle. They also stated that Stepp kicked in the front door of the residence during the incident. Police noticed “significant damage” to the left rear of the vehicle. Beside the vehicle on the ground was a large stepping stone along with smaller rocks.
The report states that Stepp denied hitting the victim and damaging the vehicle. Stepp, 34 of a 15th Avenue address, was charged with Domestic Assault and Vandalism.
_ 4150 Ringgold Rd.: Police were dispatched to the Walmart regarding a theft. According to a report, the complainant said that two women concealed about $140 worth of meat in their purses until they were confronted by management. The suspects emptied the meat from their purses and left the scene once they were told that police had been called.
According to a police report, An officer located the two suspects at 4117 Ringgold Road. One of the suspects was identified as Casandra Laneece Bone. The second suspect was not arrested. The report states that after both suspects were read and waved their Miranda Rights, the women admitted to police that they intended to steal the meat because they had no money. Bone told police that the pair had gone to other stores but they didn’t steal anything. A warrant check for Bone revealed a failure to appear warrant from East Ridge. Bone was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant and was charged with Attempted Theft under $1,000. The other suspect was issued a misdemeanor citation.
_ On Saturday police spoke with a woman and her son at the Fire and Police Services Center regarding a possible phone scam. According to a police report, The woman told police that she had received a phone call advising her that she had a warrant for her arrest due to not reporting for grand jury duty. The caller told her she needed to bring $980 to 600 Market Street at the Hamilton County Criminal Court House and call back for further instructions.
The report states that the officer advised the woman of the process of how a warrant actually works and then verified with dispatch that she was indeed not wanted by law enforcement. The woman told the officer that she never received any notice to appear for jury duty.
The report states that while the officer was speaking with the woman she received a call from a party identifying himself as Kevin Donovan, badge number 42017. After the East Ridge officer got on the phone and identified himself, the caller promptly hung up, the report states.
The woman was advised by police to report any further suspicious activity. The officer also requested that dispatch notify the watch commander with the Chattanooga Police Department for the area around 600 Market Street regarding the incident.
_ Police made an arrest this week on a burglary that happened on March 1. According to an affidavit of complaint, police responded to a house in the 300 block of South Seminole back in March. The victim said that someone had broken into their house and had stolen a television, a gaming system and three new pair of classic Nike Air Jordan shoes.
The victim called back later on March 1 and reported finding what appeared to be latent fingerprints on a door frame located in the hallway of the house. The prints were lifted by investigators and submitted to the TBI Crime Lab for examination.
The suspect took to pair of the Nike Air Jordan shoes to Hibbett Sports on Brainerd Road and did a cash return for a total of $426.08, the report states. The video from the store shows a black male wearing a ball cap concealing his face. Two other people with the man at the store remain unidentified.
The report states that the prints forwarded to the TBI came back to George Dwight Summerow, 45, of a 49th Street address. Summorow was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on Aug. 14 for Aggravated Burglary. He is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Sept. 12.
