Pioneers Get Back in Win Column

East Ridge scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 13-0 win against Howard in high school baseball.

Isaac King got the shutout win in the five-inning game. He allowed only three hits as he struck out eight and walked not a single Tiger. King helped his own cause by going 3-for-4 on the day at the plate.

Tra Jett and Evan Brooks each had multiple hits in the contest that stopped a five-game losing streak.

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
