Sequatchie County downed East Ridge, 21-14, Friday night in Dunlap in quarterfinal action of the TSSAA Football playoffs.
The Pioneers stretched Sequatchie County to the limit, as the undefeated Indians needed a batted and ultimately intercepted pass in the end zone in overtime to prevail.
East Ridge (7-6) took a 6-0 lead when quarterback Eric Bennett found Alonzo Russell on a 21-yard pass. Sequatchie County took a 7-6 lead on a 25-yard scoring pass.
Defense prevailed in a scoreless third quarter, before the Indians took a 14-6 lead on a four-yard run by Ethan Barker.
The Pioneers forced the overtime on a four-yard scoring run from Traneil Moore with 5:37 seconds left in regulation. Moore scored on the two-point conversion as well.
Sequatchie County scored in overtime on a 10-yard run by Barker. Barker had 20 carries for 105 yards.
Moore finished the night with 110 yards rushing on 21 carries.
