Pioneers Advance in District 8 Soccer Tournament

East Ridge scored on a penalty kick in the final minute to edge Hixson, 4-3, in the semifinals of the District 8/AA boys soccer tournament, Wednesday at Camp Jordan Park.

East Ridge will now travel to play Howard tonight in the finals. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.

Trailing at the half by a score of 3-2, the Pioneers (14-2-2) rallied with two second half goals. Rijad Kazic score two goals for East Ridge, while Adam Adem and Luis Diaz each scored one. Chip Teleyon and Erik Lopez were credited with assists.

Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
