Pioneers Edge Tigers, Advance in Distirct

East Ridge edged Howard, 2-1, in the District 6 A/AA semifinal soccer match at Camp Jordan Tuesday night.

Both Pioneer goals were compliments of new Tennessee Wesleyan signee Hunter Schobert, one on a penalty kick. Luis Padilla was credited with an assist. Sergio Marcos scored the lone Howard goal.

The win avenged a loss against Howard in last year’s district semis and lifts East Ridge (11-2) into the championship game against Red Bank. That game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday at Camp Jordan’s Weldon Osborne Stadium. The Lions beat Hixson on penalty kick in the other district semifinal.

He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
