I am deeply concerned by the actions of the sanitation department here in East Ridge.

After my recycle was not picked up on my scheduled day last Friday, I email Mr. (Robert) Parker (head of the sanitation department) telling him so. For the record, this is the third time this year my recycle has NOT been picked up.

He replied this morning stating that he would “send someone out to get it today”. Well, someone certainly did pick up my recycle….the TRASH truck. The trash truck took SEVERAL recycle bins that were on my street (I had informed my neighbors that the recycle would be picked up today) and dumped them all into the trash.

WTH is wrong with this department? I am disgusted by these actions and I see my tax dollars are clearly not be used properly. Are we wasting our time using the recycle bins? Is all our recycle being taken to the dump?

The city has spent a lot of money on recycle bins when obviously they are just a green trash can if this is the case. I try to do the right thing by recycling and the complete disregard by this city to also do the right thing should be noted by every taxpaying citizen. More importantly, these actions should be noted by every VOTING citizen.
