An alert East ridge police officer noticed the driver of a car not wearing a seat belt which led to charges against two validated gang members.
According to a police report, on Tuesday afternoon the officer stopped a gold, 2010 Dodge Avenger because he noticed the driver not wearing his seat belt. When the officer spoke with the driver of the car he noticed a feint odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, Kevin Anthony Brown, was removed from the car. A second man, Kenneth Dixon was removed from the backseat. There was a stronger odor of marijuana on Dixon, according to the report.
Dixon told police that he had marijuana concealed in his pants, and the officer subsequently found 3.9 grams of pot on the man.
Two other passengers were removed from the vehicle, including 27-year old Joshua Ausberry. When officers searched the car they found a Smith & Wesson .38 Special that was confirmed stolen from Bradley County. The firearm was found in the center console of the vehicle within each individual passenger’s easy reach, the report states. None of the people in the car admitted to owning the weapon.
The report states that Kenneth Dixon is a validated Gangster Disciple with several felony convictions including Aggravated Assault. In addition, Dixon is currently on active felony probation for the Aggravated Assault. Joshua Ausberry is a validated Eastdale Blood and he is also a convicted felon, the report states.
Brown and another passenger were issued misdemeanor citations for Theft Under $500 for possessing the stolen firearm. Dixon, 31, of a South Germantown address, was charged with Possession of a Firearm with a Violent Felony Conviction. Ausberry, 27, of a Mark Twain address in Chattanooga, was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Theft under $500.
_ 1351 Marlboro Ave.: Police were called to the address early Tuesday evening in reference to a suspicious person inside of the victim’s vehicle.
According to a police report, when officers arrived they saw a black male sitting in the driver’s seat of a car that was parked inside the carport of the residence.
The man was detained and identified as Sean Duveau Fowler, 40, of a McBrien Road address. Fowler told police that he thought he was at his sister’s house.
The report states that the victims did not know Fowler and that he was prowling around the house. The female resident told officers that she was afraid he was going to try to enter the residence.
Fowler was taken to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with Burglary.
