Jonathan Mason, candidate for the Republican Nomination in District 30, on Monday made a statement applauding the passage into law of the anti-sanctuary legislation.
“Today, I applaud the passage into law of the Anti-Sanctuary City legislation championed by Representative Jay Reedy and Senator Mark Green,” Mason said in a Monday press release. “Federal immigration laws are useless when cities and states refuse to assist in enforcement. In Tennessee, we now have a common-sense law that protects our citizens and those here legally.
“Thank you, Representative Marc Gravitt, Representative Mike Carter, and Representative Gerald McCormick for co-sponsoring this vital legislation in the Tennessee House.
As your next District 30 State Representative, I will always stand to protect the rights of the law abiding and fight against those who choose to break the law,” stated Mason.
Mason is a candidate in the Republican Primary for State Representative in District 30. East Ridge City Councilwoman Esther Helton is also running for the seat currently held by Rep. Marc Gravitt. Gravitt is not seeking reelection and instead is a candidate for the Hamilton County Register of Deeds.
