UPDATE: The man who was dragged from a burning house on Bennett Road succumbed to his injuries, According to East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, Timothy Dale Light Jr., 38, died from his injuries suffered in the fire. On Wednesday, Chief Williams said he held off reporting the identity of the victim until family could be notified.
A police brief supplied to East Ridge News Online on Tuesday stated that police were dispatched to the address regarding a residential fire with entrapment. Ofc. Dyer and Cpl. Daverson entered the extremely smoke filled residence and assisted with rescuing the adult male victim. Once outside the two officers immediately began CPR which they performed for an extended period of time. The victim was transported to Parkridge East where he was pronounced deceased.
An occupant of a Bennett Road home was injured in a residential house fire on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
According to East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, the injured party was removed from the burning home and immediately given medical care on the scene. He was taken to a local hospital where his condition is not known at this time.
Officials said firefighters were called to 3587 Bennett Rd. at 12:14 p.m. on a residential fire. When firefighters were en route, dispatch advised that one party was trapped inside the house. A second alarm was requested for additional manpower from Tri-State Mutual Aid.
Crews arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the residence, Officials said. Firefighters conducted rescue operations and found the man inside. The fire, officials said, was located and extinguished.
Investigators are now working the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire, Chief Williams said.
Mutual Aid was received from Chattanooga Engine 15, Chattanooga Squad 13, Chattanooga Ladder 13, and Catoosa Engine 7.
