East Ridge better get cash from the Red Wolves for that field lease. As of today, July 27th 2021, Sterling Holdings has yet to pay their 2020 property taxes according to the Hamilton County Trustee’s website. Did they get a pass on those or some sort of grace period? If not, that’s over $70,000 now overdue and collecting interest.
How can they afford to lease fields (in Camp Jordan Park)? I don’t really have much confidence that the developer really has his act together or knows what he’s doing in terms of this type of commercial development. First it was tearing up the land without a land disturbing permit and erosion controls. Now it’s unpaid taxes.
I re-read the broad strokes of the master plan for the whole thing published in the Times Free Press in April. The stadium is slated to hold 5,500 people and the parking spaces count on the preliminary plan was a combined 2,100 (parking deck plus surface parking). Attendees will be strongly encouraged to carpool no doubt.
Again, I don’t think he knows what he’s doing. Or maybe he does. He’s sure doing a good job of edging out the other football team at Camp Jordan. Next thing you know we’re going to be paving over the soccer fields at Camp Jordan for more stadium parking. I can hear the argument now. “Well, why not? The Red Wolves are the only ones using them anyway.”
If you drop a frog in a pot of boiling water, it’ll try and jump out. If you ease the temperature up bit by bit, he stays put and doesn’t bolt. Is it just me, or does it feel hot in here?
