For the 41st year the gym at Jones Memorial Church will be transformed into an exclusive BBQ restaurant featuring a selection of chicken, pork and beef. Barbecue lovers will also be served homemade BBQ sauce, coleslaw, baked beans, tea and lemonade.
The fundraiser is this Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sponsored by the Jones Memorial Church Men’s Club, the funds from this once-a-year event will go to help purchase coats for school children who are in need. Inside the coat will be placed a copy of the New Testament. Over the years this event is responsible with providing over $50,000 worth of coats gloves and hats to area kids.
The event will be held in the church’s gymnasium where tables will be set up for those wanting to dine in. You may also get a to-go order.
The fundraising event will also off a wide variety of cakes, breads, treats, and sweets. They also sell an assortment of homemade crafts as well. Organized by the United Methodist Women, the proceeds from these sales go toward the Woman’s and Children’s Ministries.
Organizers of the event encourage everyone to get to the barbecue early to ensure you may choose from a complete selection.
Those who can’t make it early shouldn’t be concerned about missing the Tennessee – Florida SEC game, as a TV will be set up to make sure visitors don’t miss a minute of SEC football action.
