The following information was compiled from ERPD “pass along reports” provided by the administration.
6401 Ringgold Road / AOA / DUI Arrest: 21-000742:
On Sunday night, police responded to the McDonald’s parking lot at the request of Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). CCSO’s Corporal Landen stated his department had received information concerning Corey Ethan Sandberg. Cpl. Landen stated that Sandberg had loaded his weapons and was going to the Georgia state capital (Atlanta) as part of a national protest for the presidential inauguration and the recent U.S. Presidential election.
CCSO had driven by Sandberg’s residence only to find he was not home. CCSO observed Sandberg’s vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500 with a large “Trump” flag, at this McDonald’s and requested ERPD’s assistance.
Upon initial contact, police found Sandberg asleep in the vehicle. Two handguns (Bersa 9mm and Ruger) were lying next to him within his immediate grasp. Because of the handguns, Sandberg was awakened and removed from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed multiple rifle magazines but no rifle was found. Sandberg was intoxicated on “Twisted Tea.”
Sandberg made several disparaging, but general comments concerning the U.S. Presidential election and recent riots at the U.S. Capitol. He said a revolution was needed. Sandberg never stated his intentions were to protest in Atlanta and had not been at the riots at the U.S. Capitol. He was arrested for DUI and Possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
