East Ridge police arrested a Chattanooga man early Saturday morning after he allegedly waived a pistol around and threatened to shoot several people in the parking lot of the End Zone.
Traevis Jerrick Graham, 20, of a North Market Street address, was charged with Aggravated Assault. He posted a $30,000 bond and is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Aug. 16.
According to reports, police were dispatched to 3658 Ringgold Road at about 1:50 a.m. on a “shots fired” call. When officers arrived they saw an altercation in the parking lot between a black male in a Dodge Charger and a white male near the driver’s side door. The parties were separated so police could determine what happened.
Police spoke with the man outside the car who told them that he had received a telephone call from his friend who was a bartender at the End Zone, asking for help involving an ongoing altercation. The man had arrived at the bar with his friend “Bradley” on motorcycles.
He told officers that when they pulled into the parking lot, “Bradley” was almost struck by the Dodge Charger driven by Graham. Words were exchanged between Graham and a passenger in his car, and the two men on bikes.
According to witnesses statements, the situation escalated and Graham got out of the Charger and pointed a chrome handgun at the men and threatened to shoot them both if they didn’t get out of the way.
The report states that both men got back into the car, but Graham continued to point the handgun at one of the bikers threatening to “put one in you.”
Police spoke with the bartender who recounted the same story.
The report states that police spoke with Graham who denied having a gun. Police searched the passenger and the vehicle and located a 9mm pistol under the passenger’s seat. Officers also found a bottle of liquor in the car that the End Zone owner said was stolen from the bar.
The report states that Graham continued to deny any involvement in the incident. Graham insisted that one of the bikers threatened him with a pistol and as Graham tried to leave the parking lot, “the same biker tossed the gun through the driver’s window and it landed inside his car under the front passenger seat.”
The report states “the consistent statements of the witnesses led police to believe that the driver, Traevis Graham, had threatened the victim with a pistol …”
Graham’s passenger, the report states, was released and the owner of the bar declined to press charges for the theft of the alcohol.
