Howard Edges East Ridge for District Soccer Crown

Howard edged East Ridge, 1-0, in the finals of the District 8/AA boys soccer tournament, Friday at Howard.

After a scoreless first half, the Hustlin Tigers’ Neyder Gonzalez-Galvez scored the game’s only goal.

The Pioneers (14-3-2) will now travel to Sequoyah, Tuesday, in the opening round of the region tournament. Howard will host McMinn Central.

East Ridge coach Jeremy McIntyre said the match was tough. He said the Pioneers did a good job consistently putting pressure on the attacking third of the field but Howard played “very tough.”
