The number of people hospitalized in Hamilton County continues to set records.
According to the Hamilton County Health Department, on Wednesday, Sept. 1, there were 321 people hospitalized in the county for COVID-19, surpassing the previous day’s mark of 280. Sixty-seven people were in area hospital Intensive Care Units, a decline of five over Tuesday.
On Wednesday, 226 new cases of COVID were reported, statistics showed. The total number of people who have contracted the virus since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 55,040. Two more deaths were recorded on Wednesday, bringing the total number of people who have died to 557.
There have been 3,271 cases reported in East Ridge since the beginning of the pandemic. The current number of cases stood at 193.
