FRANKLIN, Tenn. – State Representative Esther Helton (R-District 30) has been awarded the Legislator of the Year Award for the 111^th General Assembly by the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers. The award was presented during the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers’ Annual Winter Meeting by the Executive Director, Will Denami.

“It is an honor to be able to present this award to Representative Helton on behalf of the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers. Changing standards and regulations for mass appraisals are technical and require dedicated study to fully understand the implications and unintended consequences. Throughout the 111^th General Assembly, Representative Helton has shown great leadership and a commitment to understanding this complex issue as we work together to improve the landscape in Tennessee for mass appraisal,” said Will Denami.

“I am extremely honored to receive this award from the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers,” said State Representative Esther Helton, R-District 30.  “My experience in serving on the East Ridge City Council has provided me with a unique perspective in how the General Assembly can affect laws and regulations governing local governments and how they operate. I am humbled to be able to serve the people of the 30^th district, and I will continue to work on behalf of my constituents to help bring efficiency and modernization in how government serves the taxpayers.”

The Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers (TNAAO) is comprised of the elected constitutional officers who serve as Assessors of Property in Tennessee. The TNAAO’s purpose is to work on behalf of the people of our great state to ensure fairness and uniformity in statutes regarding the assessment of property, as well as, to promote excellence through best practices and professionalism amongst those charged with this vital task.
