Today an East Ridge Police Officer who conducted a traffic stop on Ringgold Road was wounded in the line of duty, and the suspect fled the scene. Based on information released by local sources, the wounded officer is in stable condition at a local hospital.
It is with my greatest condolences that my thoughts and prayers are extended to this officer, family, and loved ones. I am hopeful for an expedited recovery with encouragement that this officer may return to service as healthily and quickly as possible.
I retain full confidence in the East Ridge Police Department to apprehend and bring to justice the individual who has committed this cowardly act.
I wish the East Ridge Police Department and the officer wounded in the line of duty the absolute best. I want to offer my gratitude to all of our officers and those who serve to protect our community.
