Four Hispanic males were shot to death in a Dalton area park on Saturday night, and a 16-year-old is believed to be responsible.
The 16-year-old, whose name is being withheld by law enforcement is from Rome, Georgia, officials said.
Deputies were dispatched to Pleasant Grove Park at 11:14 p.m. Saturday on a “shots fired” call, according to a press release from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, they found four dead males.
The victims included two men from Dalton, who were 21 and 19 years of age. Two other victims were an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old juvenile from Rome. The victims names are being withheld until families are notified.
Sheriff Scott Chitwood said in a Sunday news conference that investigators believe the motive was robbery. Chitwood does not believe the slayings are gang related.
