ABINGDON, VA – Food City officials recently announced the roll out of their highly successful School Bucks program to their newly acquired supermarkets in the Chattanooga and north Georgia area.
Registrations are being accepted for the program through February 26th. Colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools and elementary schools in the Chattanooga/north Georgia area are encouraged to visit the company’s website at foodcity.com to register their school. Participating schools will be assigned a unique barcoded ID that customers can link (via Food City’s website) to their ValuCard to earn school points.
“We’re committed to the education of our youth and giving back to the communities where we operate,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. “Our Food City School Bucks program is an easy, cost effective way for area schools to gain the dollars needed to purchase vital educational equipment and tools”.
For every $10 in Food City Exclusive Brand customer purchases in a single shopping trip from January 4th through May 27th, schools will receive 1 point toward their School Buck rewards. Participating brands include: Food City, Food Club, Full Circle, Harvest Club, Paws, ValuTime, Top Care, Rosario’s, Bistro Deli Classics, Academix, Domestix, Electrix, Easy Clix and World Classics products, as well as Kay’s Ice Cream, Terry’s Snacks, Lay Meats, Moore’s, Kern’s Bread & Cakes and Chuck Wagon Dog Food.
Food City has pledged a total of $100,000 in contributions to the Chattanooga/north Georgia market area for the remainder of this school year. At the end of the program, school points will be totaled and the contribution will be proportionally allocated to each school based upon the number of points they have accrued.
“Food City has always been an industry leader in supporting the education of our youth and we’re extremely excited to roll this tremendous program out to our newly acquired locations in Chattanooga and north Georgia,” said Smith.
Food City first initiated their Apples for the Students program during the 1990-91 school year. To date, Food City has awarded over $16,500,000 in much-needed educational equipment and tools to over 1000 participating area schools.
