A fire which apparently started in a kitchen damaged a house on State Line Road, Saturday.
Officials said that firefighters were dispatched to the fire at 6607 State Line at about noon. Upon arrival heavy smoke was reported and additional units were requested to battle the flames.
According to Fire Chief Mike Williams, firefighters made an interior attack and quickly located and extinguished the fire in the kitchen of the home. There were no injuries reported, Chief Williams said, however, a family pet was killed in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Chief Williams said.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced family, officials said. Damages to the home in the blaze were estimated to be $25,000.
