Fire damaged a house on Hurst Street early Sunday morning.
According to East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, firefighters were dispatched to 1024 Hurst St. just after 6 a.m. on a reported residential fire. When first responders arrived, heavy fire and smoke was coming from the single-story home. Firefighters were told everyone in the house had safely fled prior to their arrival.
Crews made an aggressive attack of the fire and conducted a search of the residence. One family pet was found during the search and removed.
No injuries were reported and damages were estimated to be close to $40,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Mutual Aid companies to the scene were: Chattanooga Battalion 2, Chattanooga Squad 13, Catoosa Engine 7. Mutual Aid fill-in at Station 1 was handled by Chattanooga Engine 15.
