Fire Damages Apartment Unit

A Tuesday morning fire damaged a bedroom of a unit in the Ridgeview Point Apartments.

The call came in just before 10 a.m. at the Gleason Drive complex, officials said. By the time East Ridge firefighters arrived, the fire had been extinguished by the occupants.

Fire Chief Mike Williams said an initial investigation points to the fire having been started by a juvenile in the bedroom of the apartment. Chief Williams said the bedroom sustained about $1,000 in damage.

No injuries were reported.
