One person was injured as fire damaged several units of the Veranda at the Ridge apartment complex, Monday morning.
According to East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, firefighters and emergency personnel were dispatched to 100 Dorrah Ln. at about 7:30 a.m. on a reported fire.
On arrival fire crews spotted heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the apartment building. Evacuation of residents was immediately begun and crews started an interior attack of the fire.
Chief Williams said a second alarm was requested for additional manpower and equipment from Tri-State Mutual Aid.
One occupant was treated and released at the scene for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was called in to assist with the displaced people from the apartment complex, Chief Williams said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
