The East Ridge High School football team downed Loudon, 27-8, Friday night at Shanks Field/ Raymond James Stadium in a non-region contest.
The win moves the Pioneers to 9-0 on the season, leaving only Chattanooga Christian in its way of an undefeated regular season in its quest to “Defend the Ridge.”
Lorenzo Stewart scored on runs of four and 18 yards en route to 120 yards on the ground for the game. Dominique Millener scored on a run from two yards out, all in the first half, as the Pioneers took a 21-0 lead into halftime.
C.J. Bond accounted for nine points in the game, tacking two second-half field goals onto his three first-half PATs.
The Pioneer defense shut down Loudon in the first half, forcing the Redskins to three-and-outs time after time. East Ridge also had an interception.
East Ridge’s leading rusher, Traneil Moore, did not play. Moore suffered a knee injury in the Pioneers’ game against Howard last week.
East Ridge will travel to Chattanooga Christian next Friday night with the Region 3/3A title on the line. CCS is 7-2 overall and 3-1 in region play. CCS’s only region loss of the year was at the hands of Notre Dame. East Ridge downed Notre Dame, 14-9, on the road on Oct. 2.
