Chambliss Attorneys Giving Presentation
East Ridge Residence independent living community, together with Chattanooga law firm Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C., will host a presentation on scams targeted at the elderly on Thursday, March 23 at 1:30 pm. The presentation, “Scam Saavy: Take a Stand Against Scams,” will be held at the community located at 1417 North Mack Smith Road in East Ridge.
Elder Law attorney Colter Parker, J.D., and Sally Brewer, paralegal, with Chambliss will speak about scams targeting the elderly and how to remain vigilant against scammers’ tactics. The presentation will provide insight on elder exploitation, common scams and preventative actions, as well as simple estate planning and litigation steps.
“In today’s highly digital society, it can be very easy to get scammed if you aren’t aware of all the ways criminals are trying to take your money,” said Amy Silvers, Executive Director at East Ridge Residence. “Older adults are scammed at higher rates than younger people. We wanted to host this presentation to help our residents and others be aware of the different scams that are out there along with the warning signs to reduce the risk of them being taken advantage of.”
Light refreshments will be provided. The public at large is invited to hear the presentation free of charge, but you must register by calling East Ridge Residence at 423-899-6370.
“We are so grateful for our partnership with Chambliss, and would like to thank them for their dedication to East Ridge Residence seniors and their livelihoods,” said Silvers.
