East Ridge police said Thursday that a child was struck by a car when it chased a dog into the road.
According to a press department press release, police responded to 1210 John Ross Rd. just after noon on Thursday on a “pedestrian struck” dispatch. A 2-year old child was believed to have been chasing a dog into the road and was struck.
The vehicle braked after having seen the child, but still struck the juvenile. The juvenile’s mother then called for her and the juvenile ran back into her yard.
The juvenile was transported to TC Thompson Children’s hospital for treatment of apparent minor injuries. The juvenile was awake and talking.
The press release said there are no charges against the driver at this time.
