The city of East Ridge needs to empower Animal Services to help citizens be free from unwanted cats in their yards. It is a good law that dogs aren’t allowed to roam free and destroy property, and it is time these same rules apply to cats.
The cats I speak of are owned by our neighbors who often have multiple cats that are allowed to roam free. We find these cats on our cars, and in our yards. We smell their feces in our flower gardens and yard, and we step in the feces when we mow.
If a cat is on my car scratching the hood night after night, and this is not my cat, and I do not want it on my property, animal services should be able to relieve me of this burden. If a cat uses the bathroom in my yard day after day, animal services should be empowered to relieve me of this burden.
The laws to keep this stuff from happening are on the books for dogs, it’s time the same laws apply to cats. Update the codes.
