On a beautiful evening for football, Catholic defeated Tennessee Christian 34-6 in a game played at Billy Warren field at OLPH school in East Ridge.
With the victory Catholic moved to 5-0. The festivities began with a stirring National Anthem rendition sung by OLPH student Isabella Gearinger.
Catholic received the opening kick-off and started on their own 41-yard line. Quarterback Dallas Brown completed three passes on the drive, the last a 27-yard touchdown to receiver River Stump. Brown was also involved in Catholic’s next two scores of the half. Brown enjoyed a “pick 6” as he intercepted an errant Tennessee Christian pass and scampered 32 yards for a touchdown. Reeve Mullinax added the two point conversion. The last score of the first half was a 44-yard strike from Brown to Sean Collyer.
Tennessee Christian scored the next points on a 58-yard run by Dylan Jenkins. The scored stood 22-6 at the half.
During the third quarter Catholic added two more scores. The first was a 42-yard run by shifty running back Charlie Menham. The next score was a three-yard run by Fran Palacios. There were no fourth quarter scores, and the game ended 34-6.
Following the game Coach Billy Dearing commented “it was special to see a young man like Jackson Brownhill, who has busted his tail since Spring and is one of the smallest kids on the team, get the chance to show his talent.”
Brownhill had two pass receptions, an interception, and was involved in several tackles. Coach Bucky Dearing had praise for the offensive line stating “our line played well. The boys up front controlled the game.”
Catholic takes on Boyd Buchanan next Monday, August 31.
