Catholic Baseball kept up it’s winning ways, by smothering Berean Academy, 7-1, in Independent School Conference middle school baseball on Monday.
The win moved Catholic’s record to 3-6 on the season and 2-0 in the conference. The team travels to Oakwood Christian Academy today. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Catholic got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored one run, and Nathan Wesson doubled, scoring two more. The team scored again in the second after a Berean error. A single by Myles Pruitt extended the lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Holder Donnelly started the game for Catholic. The hurler didn’t allow a hit or a run in two innings of work. He fanned three and walked two. Nick Pendergrass and Caleb Grass each appeared in relief for Catholic.
Berean’s starting pitcher gave up six hits and five runs over three innings. He struck out two batters which was offset by three walks.
Wesson and Pruitt each collected two hits for Catholic. Wesson and Sib Evans each drove in two runs. Pruitt stole two of Catholic’s seven swipes on the day.
Coach Chase White was proud of his team, as it was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.
The team will travel to Oakwood Christian Academy on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
