UPDATE: Car Crash Compromises Propane Tank Next to Ringgold Road

UPDATE: As of 6 p.m., westbound Ringgold Road is open eastbound lanes are still closed as officers are conducting their crash investigation. The large propane tank has been emptied by a contractor and is considered safe.

According to East Ridge police, on Wednesday afternoon Ringgold Road between Keeble and Burns Streets has been shut down due to a serious car crash that has compromised a large propane tank at the U-Haul center.

Authorities are urging everyone to avoid the area.

Personnel from the fire and police departments are working to resolve the scene as soon as possible, but the danger present cannot be overstated.

The East Ridge Fire Department is keeping the tank saturated with water while crews continue to secure the scene.
