Camp Jordan will be the site of a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society called “Costumes & Cruise In for a Cure” this Friday, Oct. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Come see cool cars, dress up and trick or treat for all ages.
“It’s a car cruise in outside in the parking lot, and inside vendors will be set up with booths giving out candy to kids,” said Ken Meredith, who is one of the organizers of the event. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Meredith said the event is free, but organizers are asking that people who attend make a donation to the American Cancer Society. All the money raised will stay in the community, Meredith said.
Meredith said that this is the second year of the “Costumes & Cruise In for a Cure” event. Last year it was held downtown, he said, and more than 4,000 people attended.
The “cruise in” element of the event is open to anyone who wants to show off their car, bike or truck, organizers said. Last year about 135 people lined up their cool cars to be a part of the festivities.
“Be sure and bring some candy,” Meredith said of the people who want to show their cars.
Organizers said inside the arena where kids will be going to the booths “trick or treating,” there will be special themed booths such as “Zombie Land,” “Alice in Wonderland” and a special “Back to the Future” booth where actors will be portraying characters from the movie.
Sponsors of the even include Byrd’s Automotive, KZ-106, Talk FM, Icon Nash 107, EPB, Artistic Color Graphics, Locke Sign Company and Medaris Siding and Windows.
There will be a live remote broadcast of the event on local radio. For more information go to the group’s Facebook page.
