Tyreke Bridges accounted for 105 yards as East Ridge blew past Sale Creek, 7-0, Thursday night at Finley Stadium in the “BlueCross Bowl … Prelude to a Championship.”
Bridges, a senior, romped for 21 yards on a jet sweep, setting up a 54-yard touchdown catch from Demarcus Scruggs.
Pioneer Coach Chad Barger told the Times Free Press that he was excited about Bridges’ athleticism. Coach Barger noted the team did not have a bunch of offense snaps but “made the most of every opportunity.”
Junior linebacker Harry Strickland had a sack to force a three-and-out on Sale Creek’s second possession. Sale Creek opened the game with a nine-play possession which stalled at midfield.
Bridges amassed 850 yards last year for East Ridge and scored eight touchdowns.
Coach Barger told the TFP that he hopes for his team to remain healthy this season, as the Pioneers have about 30 players on the roster.
