Proposal Includes Millage Rate Rollback
RINGGOLD _ The Catoosa County Board of Commissioners received the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 budget for review that includes a rollback of the County’s general government millage rate to 4.947. The FY 2024 millage rate is 6.287 mills.
The General Fund Proposed Budget for FY 2025 is $42,986,444 and provides an average increase of about four percent over FY 2024 that is needed to maintain public safety, judicial, and general government services. The proposed budget also includes a 3.5 percent cost of living adjustment for full-time employees.
Millage rates are used with property assessments to calculate a home’s annual property taxes. As an example, using the average fair market value of a Catoosa County home of $275,000, the annual Catoosa County general government portion of a home’s annual property tax (excluding public schools and cities) is calculated using several factors:
- 40% of Assessed Value: $110,000
- County Homestead Exemption: $2,000
- Taxable Value: $108,000
- Proposed mileage rate rollback: 4.947 mills
- Proposed FY 2025 County Government tax: $534.28
The proposed FY 2025 budget is available for public review at the Administrative Offices Building, 800 Lafayette Street, Ringgold and online at www.catoosa.com.
The Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposed FY 2025 budget on Tuesday, August 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the Administrative Offices Building, 800 Lafayette Street, Ringgold. The Board is scheduled to adopt the FY 2025 budget on Tuesday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m.
