While patrolling Camp Jordan at approximately 0100 hours police observed a white Nissan sedan on the parking lot near the arena. Upon closer examination of the vehicle officers observed a semi-automatic firearm in the driver’s floorboard and a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The car doors were also found to be unlocked. Due to the possible connection to an earlier crime in Chattanooga (ultimately discovered it was a different vehicle), a loaded firearm in plain view, the odor of marijuana, the vehicle not being properly parked and being unsecured the decision was made to tow the vehicle and secure the firearm. An inventory of the vehicle revealed there were several loaded magazines that did not match the caliber of the weapon retrieved. Police also located several small bags of marijuana.
